Weaver Origin supplies European retailers and wholesalers with handwoven jute, seagrass, kans grass and rattan homeware — woven by more than 1,000 women artisans, in a facility audited to Amfori BSCI and SEDEX SMETA 4-Pillar.
Everything we weave grows inside the delta.

Five stages, in order, because the order matters. Nothing here is outsourced to a trading house — you talk to the people who run the looms.
Enquiry & moodboard
Send a tech pack, a sketch, or a photo from a fair. We come back with feasibility and an indicative €/pc FOB within three working days.
Sampling
Counter samples in 10–14 days. Courier is on us once a programme is confirmed. Two free revisions per article.
Costing
An open breakdown: weaving rate by woven area, fixed cost per piece, liner and finishing, carton, CBM, NW/GW and loading quantity.
Bulk production
Allocated across trained weaving centres by fibre. Weekly WIP photographs, and a hard rule: seagrass is sun-dried before packing, never shortcut.
Inspection & shipment
Inline plus final inspection at AQL 2.5. Third-party inspection welcome. FCL or LCL ex Chattogram, documents couriered same week.
A thousand women, mostly weaving at home.
Weaving in this district is household work — done on a veranda, between the school run and the evening meal, often by three generations of the same family. We did not want to end that by moving it into a shed.
So the factory does the parts that need a factory: dyeing, frames, liners, quality control, packing. The weaving stays in the villages of Pubail and Kapasia, paid per piece at a rate agreed before the work starts, collected on a fixed weekly round.

Everything is made to order. Standard articles carry a stock reference; anything in this collection can be re-sized, re-coloured, lined, or rebuilt in a different fibre for your programme.
The commercial terms, up front.
No surprises at the quotation stage. These are the defaults; everything is negotiable on volume.
Where the fibre comes from, and who works it.
Jute, hogla, kaash and khejur leaf all grow within a short drive of the factory. That is not a marketing line — it is the reason the lead time works and the reason the craft still exists here.
Cut, retted, dried, then woven.
Jute is cut in monsoon, retted in standing water for two to three weeks, then stripped and sun-bleached to the pale gold it is known for. Hogla — what the trade calls seagrass — is cut from delta wetlands and dried in the sun for five to seven days.
That drying step is the one we refuse to rush. Seagrass packed even slightly damp will bloom with fungus inside a container somewhere off the Suez. When the rain does not stop, the shipment waits. We would rather tell a buyer that than replace a consignment.
Four techniques, and what each one is for.
Coil and stitch. A rope of fibre wound in a spiral and stitched to the coil below. Strong, thick-walled, holds its shape under weight — the basis of most storage and laundry baskets.
Rope twist over frame. Twisted hogla or hyacinth woven around a steel or cane frame. Gives crisp corners, so it is what we use for rectangular and nested sets.
Plaiting. Flat strips of split date leaf or kans grass braided into sheets. Light, fast, and the right structure for placemats, trays and flat baskets.
Macramé and knotting. Hand-knotted jute yarn for wall hangings, plant hangers and open-work bags.
What the work pays for.
Weaving is one of the few paid trades a woman in this district can take on without leaving her household. We would rather be measured on that than on a slogan.
Rates are set and posted before an order starts, not after the goods are collected.
New weavers are trained on a live article and paid through the training period.
A fixed weekly round picks up finished work and pays on the spot — no waiting on the buyer.
Audited, documented, and boring — on purpose.
The paperwork is the part of an import that goes wrong. Here is what we hold, what we send with every consignment, and what we can produce on request.

Audit reports and corrective-action plans are shared with buyers under NDA. Third-party and buyer-nominated audits are welcome at any time.

Three checks, not one.
Handwoven does not mean unpredictable. It means the tolerance is agreed in writing and then held.
Incoming fibre
Moisture, colour consistency and staple length checked at intake. Wet hogla is rejected at the gate.
Inline, at the centre
Dimensions and weave density verified against the sealed sample while the batch is still on the loom.
Final, at AQL 2.5
Full final inspection before packing, with drop, load and liner-fit tests where the article calls for it.
